Day-Trip Ideas

The manor is located in Central Brittany and you can reach the northern, western, or southern coast in about an hour and 15 minutes. Some guests have found an area in Brittany and kept going back each day while others have gone a different direction each time.

Day-trip Ideas
  • Mont St. Michel is 2 hours and 15 minutes from the manor. You can also fit in one of the famed wall cities of Dinan and St. Malo on the way back.
  • Cycling, Hiking and Canoeing: There are over 80 different walking and cycling paths to choose from in Brittany or islands off the coast of Brittany. Canoeing is also available along the canal near the manor and near Guingamp.
  • There are good sand beaches to the north at Erquy, le Val-André and St. Quay-Portrieux.
  • The pink granite coastline to the north-west
  • The bird sanctuary at the sept-Iles – seven islands on the north coast with over 40,000 marine birds
  • Lighthouses
  • Carnac with the megaliths
  • Visit quant picturesque and historic towns where you can walk the streets, enjoy an outdoor café or even set up an easel and paint.
  • Church Architecture
  • Quimper: Quimper pottery factory, shopping, great outdoor cafés and restaurants and a beautiful cathedral.
  • Stay close by and visit churches, Abbeys, or take a walk along the canal or even fish in one of the nearby lakes or streams.
  • And of course, stay at the manor and enjoy the grounds and the private den.

For most of the suggestions listed above, we have a retired French couple close by, Ghis and Théu Monthuley, who speak English and give great tours. They are able to explain the history of these locations and have a vast knowledge of how life was in Brittany. Let us know if you are interested in spending a day or so with them and we can check their availability. There is a fee for their guided tours.
